The USDA ARS SWRC maintains two principle geographic information systems (GIS) covering the Walnut Gulch Experimental Watershed and the Santa Rita Experimental Range, both of which are located in southern Arizona. These GIS databases have been constructed with a high resolution using orthogonalized aerial photography and advanced surface modeling in cooperation with the University of Arizona.

We have recently completed a survey
of available GIS data for hydrologic modeling of the Lower
Colorado River Basin. This page contains many links to outside data sources.
In order to provide for maximum flexibility and integration with other software, the GIS databases maintained by the SWRC are in both ARC/INFO and GRASS. In the future, these GISs will be integrated with hydrologic simulation models and serve to parameterize our Decision Support System, currently under development.
