Channel Network

Researchers at the SWRC are keenly interested in hydrologic and erosion modeling. With the anticipation of the integration of hydrologic simulation models and GIS, a channel network coverage was created whereby channels down to .5 m in width were captured, and those with a width greater than 2 m were assigned a width. Channel islands and braided sections were manually traced, giving the channel network map of Walnut Gulch a robust quality not normally found in a GIS environment,
