TITLE:

Natural Resources Inventories in the Upper San Pedro, Mexico.

INVESTIGATORS:

Hector Arias, Christopher Watts, Ivan Parra, Gonzalo Luna, Julio Rodriguez, and David Pena (IMADES)

OBJECTIVES:

1. Develop a data bases to run Land Capability Analysis to develop an Action Plan for the Upper San Pedro, Mexico.

2. Develop a procedure to determine by consensus the need of a reserve.

APPROACH:

Vegetation: Field observations based on satellite images to have a vegetation list, define limits of vegetation, and vegetation surveys based on selected sampling points depending on the stratification of the vegetation.

Fauna: Field observations.

Soils: Field survey and collecting soils samples (depending on funds availability).

Water: Data analysis from weather stations. Pumping data to be obtained from official sources.

DATA COLLECTION:

Vegetation: Vegetation list, and vegetation surveys.

Fauna: Location of observations.

Soils: Main field information. Standard lab measurements if funds are available.

Water: Rainfall, evaporation, maximum, mean and minimum temperatures, wind information (if available). Pumping tests information (if available) and well characteristics (pumping rate, depth).

DATA REQUIRED FROM OTHER INVESTIGATORS:

Hydrological measurements available in Palominas.

Need to exchange information and see what can be done for the aquifer modeling with MAD MAC.
